The center is run by BI Incorporated in partnership with the Napa County Probation Department, which has received awards for its approach to community corrections. In 2014, the American Probation and Parole Association awarded the department the APPA President’s Award for its integrated approach to probation and inmate supervision, treatment and training that has helped reduce recidivism and jail crowding.
Since the center’s implementation, the recidivism rate of graduates has been measured at just 25 percent, including all probation violations and misdemeanors, while more than 65 percent of participants exit the program employed.
Currently, 48 probationers attend the day reporting center program and another 49 check in one to three times weekly for a pretrial release program.
