Napa County Issues Local Emergency After Recent Storms

NAPA, CA — Interim Napa County Executive Officer David Morrison today issued a local emergency proclamation due to damage from the recent storms. This proclamation is required for the County to recover State and Federal costs associated with storm damage, preparation, response, and recovery efforts. The proclamation follows emergency declarations issued by both State and Federal agencies related to the recent storms.

Damage in Napa County is currently estimated at about $8.5 million and has been identified at the following locations: three separate sites along Mt. Veeder Road, as well as locations on Dry Creek Rd., Old Lawley Toll Rd., Steele Canyon Rd. and Redwood Rd. County crews are continuing to assess areas to determine if there has been any additional damage as a result of the storms.

The public is not in any imminent threat or danger. Businesses in Napa County remain open.

“Napa County weathered the recent storms and has emerged in much better shape than other regions in the state,” said Morrison. “Despite this, the County experienced substantial road damage as a result and this emergency proclamation will help us expedite repairs and pursue state and federal funds.”

The Board of Supervisors will vote on whether to ratify the proclamation on Jan. 24.
