Napa County Supervisors Select New DA To Fill Lieberstein's Fifth Term

BREAKING: Chief Deputy District Attorney Allison Haley is choice to take over when current DA retires Dec. 30.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – The Napa County Board of Supervisors today tentatively appointed Chief Deputy District Attorney Allison Haley to serve the remaining two years of outgoing Napa County District Attorney Gary Lieberstein's fifth term.

Lieberstein is retiring Dec. 30.

The Board of Supervisors will make the appointment official on Nov. 8. Lieberstein has been a prosecutor for 31 years and the county's district attorney for 18 years.

"Allison is incredibly committed to pursuing justice with honesty and integrity. I am confident in her leadership and her ability to serve in this new role," Lieberstein said in a statement.

"It is a privilege to serve my community in this capacity," Haley said in a statement.

"I will work every day to be worthy of the confidence and trust the county had given me," Haley said.

Haley, 43, is Napa County's first female district attorney. She has been chief deputy district attorney since 2013.

Haley and her family are Napa residents. She is a board member of the If Given a Chance local non-profit organization that awards scholarships to high school students who have overcome extraordinary challenges.
Haley has a law degree from University of California at Davis' School of Law, a master's degree in criminal justice with an emphasis on statistical analysis from California State University, Long Beach and a bachelor's degree in social science and philosophy from Biola University.
