Napa County Unemployment Rate Slightly Up
American Canyon had the highest unemployment rate in the county last month, according to figures released by California EDD.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — The unemployment rate rose slightly in Napa County last month, from 3.3 percent in November 2017 to 3.6 percent — or 2,600 people without work — in December 2017, according to California's Employment Development Department. However, the number of unemployed people in the county was still 1 percent fewer than one year ago in December 2016.
American Canyon had an unemployment rate of 4.3 percent in December — the highest among cities and census-designated places in Napa County. Angwin's rate was 3.5 percent; in Calistoga it was .8 percent; Deer Park, 4 percent; Napa, 3.8 percent; St. Helena, 2.3 percent; and in Yountville, 3.6 percent of the city's workforce were unemployed.
Across the San Francisco Bay Area, unemployment rates were below five percent in all nine counties last month, the EDD reported. San Mateo County had the lowest rate at 2.1 percent, followed by Marin County at 2.3 percent and San Francisco at 2.4 percent.

Solano County had the highest rate at 4.1 percent.
In Santa Clara and Sonoma counties, unemployment was below three percent. Alameda and Contra Costa counties reported unemployment of 3 and 3.1, respectively.

Statewide, unemployment was 4.3 percent, compared with 4.1 percent nationwide.
