Napa County Unveils First Phase of New Website
The new design should make for easy viewing on computers, smartphones and tablets.

Napa County celebrated its 165th birthday Wednesday with a newly redesigned website, according to county officials.
A new navigation carousel, social media presence and text translator are among many of the new features. The website uses a Responsive Design framework, which makes for easy viewing on smartphones and tablets, in addition to computers, the county said.
“The county values technology, and we’re staying on the cusp of how the world is receiving information,” said Danis Kreimeier, Director of Community Outreach and Library. “In recognizing that, we needed to start tailoring our services to enhance our web presence and better meet the needs of our community.”

The county’s webmaster and technology experts used heat mapping, Google analytics and meetings with county staff to research what areas on the webpage were most popular to visitors. This information was used to organize the site by what users deemed most relevant. The research, redesign and testing were done entirely by staff, saving the county an estimated thousands of dollars, officials said.
The website launch, which focuses on the home page, is first in a four-phase project designed to improve the county’s online presence over the next 12 months. Future phases include updates to departments and services pages.
