Napa First United Methodist Church Red-Tagged
The 1917 Napa First United Methodist Church was severely damaged in the recent 6.0 earthquake.

As a result of August 24th’s 6.0 earthquake, our main building has been red-tagged (pictures) and is off-limits. The structural damage to our historical Napa First United Methodist Church (FUMC) is currently estimated to be in excess of $1 million. We thought we might lose the building, but after drone inspection and review of blueprints, we are hopeful that it can be saved.
We believe that in a year or so from now, our church Sanctuary will not only be back to its original beauty but will be seismically retrofitted so that it could withstand another earthquake without severe damage.
Thanks to Pastor Marvin Wray and his congregation, Napa First United Methodists will be worshipping at the Napa Community Seventh Day Adventist Church until the church is rebuilt. “To see people coming in with their smiles this morning and look around our sanctuary and just feel blessed is just a real warm feeling for us,” Wray said.

“It’s beyond words. It’s just such a gift. And they have been open ended about it. As long as we need it,” Mary Herzog, a long-time FUMC member, said.
If you are able to give to the Napa First UMC Earthquake Relief Fund, we would be most grateful. And please take the time to pray for all who are hurt or who have lost much in Napa, remember them and help those in need. That we help our brothers and sisters, assisting them in their time of need is a sign that we are following Jesus’ example and living as true Christians.
