Napa Mail Carriers & Emergency Volunteers Move To New Locations After Earthquake

Some postal employees were working from a parking lot after the 6.0 Aug. 24 quake.

Napa mail carriers today moved into a 50,000-square-foot building in Napa, the U.S. Postal Service announced today.

The mail carriers had been working in the rear parking lot of the Main Post Office on Trancas Street in Napa since the 6.0-magnitude earthquake on Aug. 24.

They reported today to Building #3 at 2751 Napa Valley Corporate Drive in Napa.

There is a two-month lease at the facility with an option for a third month, U.S. Postal Service spokesman Augustine Ruiz said.

The short-term lease will allow the Postal Service to remedy mail delivery issues in Napa since the earthquake, Ruiz said. Retail and PO Box customers will still be served at a mobile unit at the Main Post Office at 1625 Trancas St. in Napa.

Caller service hours for PO Box customers are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Photo identifications are required to pick up mail. PO Box customers from the Franklin Post Office at 1351 Second St. will still pick up their mail at the Wine Valley Post Office at 820 Randolph St. in Napa. PO Box will-call hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Photo identification also is required.

Napa city officials also announced that the Emergency Evacuation Center has moved to the Volunteer Center of Napa County in the Gasser Building at 433 Soscol Ave. Suite A-100 in Napa.
