Napa Man Sentenced For Molesting Child Family Member

The victim courageously came forward and reported the abuse that began when she was 10 years old, according to the Napa County DA's Office.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — A Napa man was sentenced this week to 42 years in California state prison for molesting a 10-year-old family member, according to a news release Friday from Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley.

Raul De Jesus Garcia, who also goes by Ismael Deaquino, was sentenced Tuesday by Napa County Superior Court Judge Scott R.L. Young after a plea agreement was reached in October.

Garcia, 33, pleaded no contest Oct. 19 to one count of Forcible Rape of a Child Under 14 years of Age, one count of Forcible Sodomy of a Child Under 14 years of Age, one count of Forcible Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a Child Under 14 years of Age, and one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14 Years of Age.

Garcia also admitted the special allegation of Substantial Sexual Conduct, and will have to register as a sex offender.

Haley said the convictions were for sexual contact Garcia had with a child family member in 2018 and 2019 in Napa County. The survivor, who was between 10 and 11 years old at the time of the abuse, courageously came forward with her family and reported the abuse to Napa County Child Welfare Services, Haley said.

The survivor and her family attended Garcia's sentencing hearing.

When the survivor addressed Garcia, she said: "When I look at you, I see a monster, an abuser, a rapist, a drunk, and a fake. I can’t even look at you anymore."

She continued by saying: “I am so much smarter, stronger, and I will continue to fight for my family. I am older now and am a warrior now. Not because of you, but because I’m still alive, I’m still standing here right now, and you’ve fallen, and will continue to fall. I will continue to grow and be great and successful in life.”

According to Haley: "Our Napa County Law Enforcement partners, Napa County Welfare Services, as well as the Sexual Assault Victim Services, remain open and committed to investigating crimes of sexual abuse and serving victims and their families.

The case against Garcia was prosecuted by Napa County Deputy DA Kristen Orlando.

Substantial charges were filed against Garcia in March once the investigation led by Napa Sheriff’s Department Detective Cecil Brown was complete.
