North Bay Music Instructor Arrested In Child Sex Assault Case

A Napa music teacher suspected of sexually assaulting a former student at a local music school was arrested Wednesday.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A former Napa music teacher suspected of sexually assaulting a student was arrested on multiple felony charges, according to the Napa Police Department.

Police arrested Napa resident Sean Eric Allen, 61, on Wednesday. He is suspected of sexually assaulting a former student in 2018 while teaching at the Napa School of Music. Allen worked at the school from 2005 to 2021.

Allen faces multiple felony charges, including four counts of oral copulation with a person under 18, two counts of sexual penetration with a person under 18, one count of attempted sodomy with a minor, and charges related to contacting and arranging to meet a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.

The charges by the student, identified as Jane Doe, span roughly five months in 2018, beginning June 26 and ending Nov. 30.

Jane Doe was 16 when Allen, via phone calls and electronic messaging, began expressing “his desire to have a sexual relationship with her,” investigators wrote in documents included in the complaint. Sexual activity occurred during her weekly lessons at the school and ended in 2018 when the girl left the academy, the Press Democrat reported.

Napa police first received the case in the latter part of 2025.

Investigators arrested Allen on Wednesday afternoon. His bail was set at $250,000. He was released from the Napa County Department of Corrections at 8:09 p.m., according to records.
