Napa Online Music School Offers Affordable Instruction With World-Class Teachers

Charges just $20 a month; offers 24 different instruments and musical styles

Have you heard of ArtistWorks?

The online music school founded by Napa residents David and Patricia Butler in 2008 was recently profiled in the Press Democrat. ArtistWorks targets people who want to learn how to play an instrument but can’t afford to spent a lot of money on instruction, part of a growing phenomenon of e-instruction.

But unlike YouTube, the school gives students access to online classes with internationally acclaimed musicians such as legendary British guitarist Martin Taylor and jazz bassist John Patitucci. The school is doing well, with 24 schools and 7,000 students enrolled. It charges just $20 a month or $240 a year.

“When I tell people they don't believe that you can have access to this caliber of teacher for that price,” said David Butler told the Press Democrat.
