Police in Napa Friday night announced the arrest a 27-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

NAPA - Police in Napa Friday night announced the arrest a 27-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Napa resident Fidel Bueno was arrested at 11:48 p.m. in the 4200 block of Solano Ave. when officers responded to assault in progress, police said.

Witnesses told police that Bueno allegedly dragged a female victim out of a vehicle and punched her repeatedly.

Bueno allegedly then sped away in a vehicle north on Solano Avenue, according to police.

During an investigation, officers learned that Bueno allegedly choked the victim until she was unconscious and beat her head against the dashboard and steering wheel.

The victim suffered injuries to her face and torso, and was treated and released from Queen of the Valley Medical Center, police said.

The investigation indicated that Bueno left the area, but he was found and arrested in Hollister with the help of the California Highway Patrol and Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Bueno was booked in the Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, battery with great bodily injury, domestic violence with injury, criminal threats and robbery, according to police.
