Napa Sex Trafficking Arrest: Man Allegedly Tried To Recruit Girl
A Southern California man allegedly conversed with, sent texts to and called undercover detectives to recruit the 16-year-old girl.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Napa Special Investigations Bureau arrested a San Bernardino man this month on suspicion of trying to recruit a 16-year-old girl into the commercial sex trade. Travonte Gasaway Jr., 21, allegedly contacted a social media profile of a fictitious 16-year-old Napa County girl. The profile was being maintained by the NSIB.
Gasaway allegedly conversed with, sent texts and called undercover detectives to recruit the girl over the course of a week, according to the bureau.
When Gasaway allegedly became increasingly assertive, investigators asked a Vacaville police detective to assist the investigation, and Gasaway allegedly agreed to pick up the girl and her 16-year-old friend in Napa County and take them to Southern California to work in the sex trade.

Gasaway allegedly bragged about promoting 16-year-old girls on websites, recruiting customers for them and offering to protect them as they worked as child sex workers, according to the bureau.
Gasaway allegedly arrived at an agreed upon location to pick up the two fictitious girls on Aug. 9 and he was arrested by detectives.

He was booked in the Napa County Jail under $2 million bail on suspicion of human trafficking of a minor, pimping and pandering a minor, meeting a child for sex and committing a felony while out on bail.
