Napa State Hospital Hazmat Incident: No Injuries Reported

Cal Fire, Napa County Fire and Napa City Fire were among those who responded to an acid spill at the state hospital.

NAPA, CA — No one was injured in an acid spill Monday at Napa State Hospital that drew a response from several public agencies, including Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. The hazmat incident was reported at 11:55 a.m. and involved an industrial-strength cardboard barrel that failed, according to Cal Fire Spokesman Bruce Lang.

About 25 gallons of "low-concentrate acid" leaked out of the barrel and onto the concrete floor of the state-run facility, Lang said.

Fire personnel responded and quickly contained and neutralized the spill by mid-afternoon before turning the scene back over to the hospital's trained clean-up crew.
