Napa Taps Marin County Counsel Veteran As City Attorney

Napa officials appointed veteran public agency lawyer as the city's next attorney, with her tenure set to begin in late August.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Napa has named its next city attorney, choosing a lawyer with experience in providing legal counsel and representation to government entities.

Renee Giacomini Brewer will step into the role of advising the city on governance, litigation, labor and employment law, and local government operations as Napa navigates key civic issues.

The Napa City Council approved Giacomini Brewer’s appointment at its Tuesday meeting. She is scheduled to begin serving the city in late August.

Giacomini Brewer currently works in the Marin County Office of the County Counsel, where her roles have included assistant county counsel, chief deputy county counsel, and supervising deputy county counsel. She also has served as general counsel to the Marin Housing Authority, according to an announcement.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Giacomini Brewer to the City of Napa,” Napa Mayor Scott Sedgley said in the announcement. “Her deep expertise in public agency law and collaborative approach to problem-solving will be invaluable to our organization and the community.”

City officials said they will share a more detailed introduction and full professional biography when Giacomini Brewer officially begins her tenure later this summer.
