New Affordable Housing Complex Opens In Napa

It's the second affordable housing complex to open in Napa recent weeks, and the waiting list is already long.

NAPA, CA — A new 20-unit apartment complex opened in Napa on Monday, with what county officials called affordable rents and units reserved for people who have been homeless.

Napa Courtyards, at 535 Coombsville Road, has one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at rents ranging from $534 to $1,501. The units are available to people earning up to 60 percent of the area median income, Napa County said in a news release.

All 20 units have been rented — including five to people who were homeless before they moved in — with a waiting list of 150, the county said.

Earlier this month, the county opened Stoddard West, a 50-unit affordable housing complex which, like Napa Courtyards, was built in partnership with the City of Napa and a nonprofit developer.

Napa Courtyards cost $8.9 million to build, according to nonprofit developer The Pacific Companies, with the county providing $3.5 million.

“This is our second ribbon cutting in 10 days that we’ve done for affordable housing with the city and county coming into partnership,” County Supervisor Belia Ramos said at the opening ceremony Monday. “That is truly remarkable.”
