New Strategy for Scientopia

Nonprofit going mobile, closing facility

Friends of Scientopia, who took over operations of Scientopia Discovery Center in September 2013, will be closing the facility on Tanen Street as of January 8, 2016. Scientopia will continue to offer enrichment programs at school sites, as well as camps and classes at various locations throughout Napa Valley.

We are actively seeking a new location that will better serve the needs of the community, with upgraded exhibits, expanded outdoor area, and new technology, says Michele Dahlberg, President and Executive Director.

Scientopia is seeking other opportunities to grow, and would like to create a space for babies, toddlers, preschool children, and students, while giving families of Napa and beyond a great place to create, play, and learn. Our mission is to promote educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to kids of all ages, and to serve the community of Napa and provide schools with additional resources to meet educational requirements.

Scientopia has been recognized as a public charity by the IRS, and is taking donations at https://www.gofundme.com/museumonthego. The funds we raise will be used for moving and storage in the short-term, and development of a new site, as well as a museum-on-the-go program using a converted school bus. There will be a sale of surplus items, including toys, art supplies, tables, office supplies, and more on January 9-10. More details will be posted on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/scientopiadiscoverycenter/
