By NVOS artist Robert Zlomke
NVOS artist Cheryl Witbracht is a printmaker who engages in drypoint printmaking, which is her personal conduit for self-expression and exploration. She starts with incising an image onto the surface of a plate. After ink is applied and the excess removed, link remains only in the incised lines; then the plate is run through the press with dampened printer’s paper, and the image is transferred. Cheryl sees visual design as central to human creativity and our common emotional life. She is fascinated by the many variables involved in a physical process like printmaking, which lead to variations in the finished print that make each one unique.
