By NVOS artist Cathryne Trachok
Inspired by the beauty of nature and the reflection of light, returning Napa Valley Open Studios artist, Sherrell Harper translates that inspiration into beautiful paintings. Not content to just sit back on her laurels, Sherrell explores new ideas and new media so she is constantly growing.
Known mainly for her realistic images of glasses, wine, and foods, Sherrell is now enjoying all aspects of art and seeing things with a new eye. There is a strong sense of color and value in all her work, whether “experimental” or traditional. The viewer will be drawn into the details of her realistic work, and the beautiful color and design of her freer works.
Sherrell is sharing her studio this year with painter Nancy Tesch. Their studio is located at 723 South Minahen Street, Napa. When you look on your Open Studios map, they are Studio #24.
The binding element of all her work, whether pastel, watercolor, or acrylic, is an appreciation for the media as well as the subject matter. It is very difficult to walk past one of her paintings; they draw the viewer in with color and contrast.

Cathryne Trachok works from, in, and around the Napa Valley, using her vision to create artworks celebrating the beautiful world we live in. You can meet her and see her work at Studio #4 during Open Studios, and you can see her work online at www.catrachokstudios.com.
