NVOS weaver, Sharon Crary

By NVOS artist Davina Rubin

NVOS Artist Sharon M. Crary
weaves original, one-of-a-kind designs into tapestries, rugs, wall hangings, pillows, scarves, vessels and more. She is inspired by colors, shapes, and textures from the natural world as well as the man made, and enjoys combining colors in unusual or unexpected combinations.

All three of the American Tapestry Alliance Small Format Exhibits have included a piece of Sharon’s work. Among awards are 3rd Place for a functional 2-dimensional woven piece at Fiber Celebration 2013 at the Loveland Museum and Gallery in Loveland, Colorado.

Sharon has 35 years of weaving experience to her credit. Her original design rugs are woven using a shaft switching technique with three or four end block designs. Her tapestries are also woven from her original designs.

A visit to Sharon’s studio will provide an opportunity to see several looms - a 4-shaft and tapestry loom, and a wall of yarn, as well as an inspirational wall of colors and pictures. She will have tapestries, rugs, scarves and vessels on display and for sale. You'll find Sharon at Studio #12, 1505 G Street, in Napa, California, during Napa Valley Open Studios.
