OAKVILLE, CA — Lawyers for Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, disputed reports related to his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence following a May 29 car crash in Napa Valley wine country.

“Several news reports about Saturday night’s traffic accident involving Paul Pelosi have included incorrect information,” his lawyer, Larry Kamer, said in a statement obtained by The Daily Beast. When The Daily Beast asked Kamer to clarify which information was untrue, he did not reply.

Paul Pelosi, an 82-year-old multimillionaire venture capitalist, crashed his car and was arrested May 29 after leaving a dinner party in Oakville, CBS News reported.

Paul Pelosi was arrested 80 minutes after the collision with a suspected blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher, according to Napa County booking records. He was released early Sunday morning on a $5,000 bond, records showed.

“Mr. Pelosi was attending a dinner party at the home of friends near Oakville. He left that party at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, to drive to his home a short distance away. He was alone in his car,” CBS News reported, citing his lawyers. “Mr. Pelosi was fully cooperative with California Highway Patrol officers who arrived a few minutes later.”

“The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” Drew Hammill, a spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi, told numerous outlets over the weekend. At the time of the incident, Nancy Pelosi was in Providence, Rhode Island, to deliver a Sunday commencement address at Brown University.

Paul Pelosi’s lawyers also disputed the accuracy of what they called a "prior driving offense" involving him, The Daily Beast reported.

“A prior driving offense erroneously attributed to Mr. Pelosi is untrue and likely refers to an unrelated person with the same name. This error must be corrected,” Kamer said in the statement obtained by The Daily Beast. “There are also incorrect reports that misstate the timing of events.”

The Daily Mail cited what it said was a 1957 news story from the San Francisco Examiner reporting that someone named Paul Pelosi, then a 16-year-old high school sophomore, drove a car that flipped near the Crystal Springs Dam on what is now California state Route 35, resulting in the death of David Pelosi, whom the Examiner identified as Paul Pelosi's brother, The Daily Mail reported.
