Pedestrian Critically Injured In Napa Crash

NAPA, CA — The Napa Police Department is seeking additional witnesses of a major-injury crash Thursday.

The collision between an SUV and a pedestrian was reported at 3:56 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Jefferson Street and El Capitan Way.

Responding officers found a 61-year-old woman suffering from critical injuries, Napa police Sgt. Aaron Medina said.

The driver of the involved vehicle — a white BMW X5 — remained at the scene and provided her information to officers.

The pedestrian was rushed to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. There was no update on her condition Friday, Medina said.

Napa PD traffic investigators shut down the southbound lane of Jefferson and part of El Capitan for about four hours to reconstruct the crash.

"Initial information indicates the pedestrian was walking northbound on Jefferson Street and the BMW was eastbound on El Capitan Way," Medina said. "Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be involved at this time."
