Police Seize Guns, Drugs In Traffic Stop Arrest In Napa Valley

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Police arrested an American Canyon man after seizing multiple firearms and suspected methamphetamine.

American Canyon police stopped a 2002 white Ford F-150 for vehicle code violations near Silver Oak Trail and Toscana Drive.

Police said that while officers were speaking with the driver, Ryan Tilson, 42, the department's K-9 alerted officers to presence of suspected narcotics inside the vehicle.

Officers searching the truck found suspected methamphetamine along with items they said are commonly associated with the sale of illegal narcotics. The search also uncovered three semiautomatic handguns, two of them loaded, police said.

Investigators later obtained consent to search Tilson's nearby residence, where they found two shotguns, including one altered into a compact sawed-off shotgun, according to the American Canyon Police Department. Officers said they also recovered parts of an assault-style rifle.

Police arrested Tilson on suspicion on suspicion of having an illegal firearm possession and controlled substances for sale.
