Burglar Steals Family Member's Ashes In Overnight Break-In

A $2,500 reward is offered for the recovery of urn, as well as arrest and conviction of suspects involved.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – Police said ashes of a deceased person were among the items stolen during a residential burglary in east Santa Rosa early Monday morning.

The burglary in the 2000 block of Hilltop Court happened between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. when the thief entered a garage and took the ashes that were in a black plastic temporary urn, as well as a chainsaw, craftsman router and a baby monitor, police said.

The family was sleep at the time, police Sgt. Marcus Sprague said.

The Sonoma County Alliance has offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to the recovery of the urn and the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
