Man Arrested For Alleged Carjack, Kidnap, Rape Attempt Of Woman In North Bay
BREAKING: The victim was nabbed at a San Rafael stoplight and forced into her car's backseat, police said. One suspect still at large.
NORTH BAY, CA – Police arrested a man they suspect of carjacking, kidnapping and trying to rape a woman Sunday in San Rafael's Canal neighborhood, according to police officials.
Officers arrested Fabio Hernandez-Martinez, 18, Wednesday on suspicion of carjacking, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, possession of a stolen vehicle and assault with intent to
commit rape, police said.
Police say Hernandez-Martinez and another suspect who remains at large stopped the victim as she drove her car into the intersection of Vivian Street and Francisco Boulevard East at about 1:30 a.m Sunday.

The men ordered her into the backseat of the car, at which point one of them got behind the wheel, police said.
Hernandez-Martinez then got into the backseat with the victim, allegedly held a knife to her throat and demanded that she have sex with him, police said.

When she refused, the suspects kicked her out of the car and fled with her vehicle, a Toyota Camry, according to police.
She was treated for a minor cut to her neck by officers and released.
On Wednesday at about 12:30 a.m., an officer spotted the stolen car parked at a 7-11 store just a few blocks from where it was stolen. They were able to arrest Hernandez-Martinez, along with three other people not
suspected of the original carjacking and attack, police said.
Idalia Hernandez-Arvizu, 18, and Rene Garcia, 18, were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle. A 17-year-old boy whose name was not released was cited for the same crime and released to his mother, police said.
Police describe the suspect who drove the car during Sunday's attack as a Hispanic man with an average build in his late teens or early 20s.
