Hunt On For Pickup Driver In Cyclist Hit-And-Run

The vehicle that struck the bicyclist on Highway 1 was described as pulling a trailer on a flatbed, officials said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A bicyclist was struck Monday morning on Highway 1 near Sea Ranch by a pickup truck, that briefly stopped before driving off, the California Highway Patrol said today.

The dark-colored blue or black pickup, described as having a flatbed and pulling a white trailer, reportedly was traveling south at a high rate of speed at 11:50 a.m. on Highway 1 near Leeward Spur in Sea Ranch when it collided with the bicycle, knocking off the rider, who landed in the southbound lane, the CHP said.

"The driver of the truck momentarily stopped just south of the traffic collision, then fled the scene," officials said, adding that the truck's passenger-side mirror broke off in the crash and was found at the scene.
