Sala Salon Opens 'Pop-Up' Annex in Downtown Napa

Sala Salon on First St. in Napa has found a truly unique way to keep business ticking over while dealing with post earthquake damage at their Downtown Napa property. Taking inspiration from her movie background owner Sandina Bailo knew that everything in Hollywood is available on wheels. So late last week Bailo rented a mobile hair salon and had it delivered to Downtown Napa on Saturdayafternoon.

“I realized I had to take immediate action as the salon itself has suffered extensive water damage as a result of the water sprinklers running for more than 5 hours. We had been closed for days and were down tens of thousands of dollars in revenue,” said owner Bailo. “Given all of the bad news post earthquake I wanted our story to be a good news one. Unfortunately the City of Napa didn’t see it the same way and red-tagged our efforts 2 hours after it arrived.”

The Annex, as Bailo is calling the trailer, is fully loaded and ready for action. With three hair-styling chairs, hair-wash sink, restrooms, air-conditioning and a wardrobe area that will be used as a reception and retail area.

“Who wouldn’t want to get their hair cut, colored or styled like a movie star in our direct from Hollywood Annex” says Bailo. “This whole post earthquake time is an adventure for us all and we’re doing our best to serve our customers and keep the team working. The City of Napa is now part of this adventure, as we’ve had nothing but co-operation from Rick Tooker, Dan Kavarian and Jennifer LaLiberté in getting the Annex opened. They gave us a space where the ice rink goes in the Coombs and Second parking lot and we’re opening the Annex doors to guests on Friday.”
