Scammers Calling Napa County Residents, Sheriff's Office Warns
The scammers are claiming they work for the Napa County Sheriff's Office, authorities said.
NAPA COUNTY, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that scammers are calling Napa County residents and claiming they work for the sheriff’s office. Detectives are continuing to investigate who is behind the phone scam, sheriff's officials said.
"Please realize the Napa County Sheriff's Office would never contact you by phone and threaten to take you to jail if you don't make an immediate payment," the sheriff's office said in a Nixle alert. "If you receive this type of call, do not provide any personal information."
Residents who receive such calls can report it to the sheriff's office by calling 707-253-4440.
