NAPA COUNTY, CA — A section of Silverado Trail that was damaged in a storm-related washout early Monday may remain closed for up to three weeks, Napa County Public Works said Tuesday.

The washout forced the closure of Silverado Trail from Madrone Knoll Way to Meadowood Lane near St. Helena.

"Efforts are underway to reopen this section of Silverado Trail as soon as possible," county officials said. "The County expects repair work will begin as early as Friday and anticipates that Silverado Trail will be reopened within the next three weeks."

In the meantime, drivers on Northbound Silverado Trail should continue to detour using Zinfandel Lane to Northbound SR-29 and drivers traveling southbound on Silverado Trail should detour using Deer Park Road to southbound SR-29.

The county and Caltrans were working to evaluate traffic control measures for SR-29.
