Summer Vacations: CA Wine Region Among Best In The World, Ranking Says

With summer on the minds of some vacationers, Travel + Leisure has named this California wine region as a vacay spot to consider this year.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Though spring is in our midst, summer may be on the minds of travelers.

Global attractions could be alluring to some adventurers, but Travel + Leisure believes sights here in the U.S. stand up to worldwide summer destinations, such as Machu Picchu and Nicaragua.

So much so, the international magazine has added few U.S. settings to its recent list of 25 Best Summer Vacations Everyone Should Consider in 2024.

Among the popular summer vacation destinations is a California wine region near San Francisco.

Travel + Leisure suggests summer travelers visit the area in July when Festival Napa Valley is underway, showcasing a variety of wineries and their best blends. The magazine advises adding the Napa Valley Wine Train to the itinerary.

"Wine country’s own Auberge du Soleil has residential-style accommodations and an on-site French restaurant with outdoor dining, so you can sip local pours while taking in sweeping views of the verdant countryside," Travel + Leisure wrote.

Napa Valley is about more than wine tasting, Tripadvisor says. Visitors can eat Michelin-starred meals, have picnics, go to a mineral spring spa, float in a hot air balloon and cruise Main Streets in Napa, Yountville, St. Helena and Calistoga, the travel agency said.
