Traffic Alert: Gravel Spill Blocks Petrified Forest Road
Tuesday morning, the roadway was covered in gravel just east of the Napa County line in the Calistoga area.

NAPA/SONOMA COUNTY LINE, CA — A crash Tuesday morning left gravel spilled across Petrified Forest Road near the Napa County line, initially forcing closure of the roadway in both directions, authorities reported. In a 9:39 a.m. advisory, Napa County Public Works officials said the incident happened about 100 feet east of the county line, and that county road crews were on their way to the Calistoga area to clear the mess.
At that point, there was not an estimated time for when the roadway might reopen and motorists were advised to use an alternate route.
California Highway Patrol reports that the incident began at about 8:21 a.m. Tuesday at Petrified Forest and Sharp roads, just east of the Napa/Sonoma county line in the Calistoga area.
