Tuesday Celebration Honors Napa County’s Centenarians

The Board of Supervisors is excited to honor Napans turning 100 or more this year at 6th Annual Centenarian Celebration.

NAPA COUNTY, CA – A lot has changed in 100 years, and some Napa County residents have lived through it all.

On Tuesday, the Napa County Board of Supervisors (BOS) will celebrate individuals who have lived a century or longer at its sixth annual celebration at the Napa Native Sons of the Golden West Hall, 937 Coombs St., in Napa.

The event, which follows National Centenarians Day, is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“Napa County’s centenarians offer us a unique glimpse into our community history,” said BOS Chairman Alfredo Pedroza. “As an aging society, we have much to learn from them. They hold the keys to longevity and quality of life.”

Life expectancy for Americans increased dramatically from 49 years of age in 1900 to over 76 years as a result of improved health care, nutrition and quality of life, a trend that is expected to continue. Centenarians have defied life expectancy projections by at least 20 years.
