As Unemployment Rates Drop, Here Are Thousands of Area Jobs

Unemployment drops to lowest rate in 6 years.

The unemployment rate for December 2014 dropped to 5.6 percent, the lowest it has been since June 2008 and 0.2 percent point lower than November 2014, according to the latest employment report conducted by the National Labor Department.

And thousands of job openings still exist.

The number of unemployed workers in December was 8.7 million, down 383,000 from the previous month. The report states that approximately 252,000 new jobs were created in December alone, an above-average number compared to previous months that year.
