Woman's Stabbing Sparks Napa Chase, Hillside Search

The report of a stabbing on Lincoln Avenue escalated to a high-speed chase and search across a rugged stretch of Monticello Road.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A stabbing that seriously injured a woman triggered a high-speed pursuit and hours-long manhunt before a suspect was found hiding in dense brush, Napa police said.

Officers with the Napa Police Department responded around 3:53 p.m. on Thursday to the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue after reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a severe stab wound to her forearm and applied a tourniquet before she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect fled in a vehicle, prompting an area-wide alert based on descriptions from the woman and witnesses.

About five minutes later, a Napa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the vehicle traveling eastbound on Monticello Road and tried to stop the driver.

The driver, later identified as Saul Eusebio, led deputies on a roughly two-mile high-speed pursuit before crashing along the roadway. No other vehicles were involved.

Napa police said in a news release that Eusebio then fled on foot into a steep hillside covered in dense vegetation, prompting a multi-agency search using K-9 units and drones, including support from the California Highway Patrol.

Police found Eusebio at about 7:20 p.m. hiding in brush near Monticello Road and arrested him.

Investigators have not released additional details about the stabbing or potential charges. Anyone with information should contact Napa police.
