127 Tickets Handed Out in Newark
Officers from 6 police agencies, including the Newark Police Department, patrolled areas near schools or with lots of complaints.

NEWARK, CA — 127 tickets were handed out in Newark last Wednesday, as the Newark Police Department Traffic Unit and several cooperating agencies conducted a High Impact Traffic Team detail, or HITT.
The HITT typically works together for 3 to 4 hours to focus on the primary factors that cause collisions, choosing areas near schools and other high complaint areas.
A total of 18 officers wrote the following tickets:

- Speed violations: 75
- Cell Phone violations: 18
- Stop Sign violations: 9
- Unlicensed / Suspended License: 7
- Misc. violations: 10
- Red Light violations: 1
- Pedestrian violations: 3
- Bicycle violations: 1
- Turning violations: 3
- Fail to yield to emergency vehicle violation: 1
The other agencies that provided officers were the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Hayward Police Department, San Leandro Police Department, and Union City Police Department.
