3 Injured When Car Hits Wall, Rolls In Newark

Impaired driving suspected in the morning crash on Newark Boulevard, police said.

NEWARK, CA – Newark police believe that alcohol impairment was the reason for a solo-vehicle crash that closed part of Newark Boulevard for over an hour this morning.

Captain Chomnan Loth said that one vehicle hit a retaining wall on the overpass and rolled over, trapping three occupants inside around 5:20 a.m.

Police were able to rescue all those in the car, Loth said. All three people suffered minor injuries and were transported to Bay Area hospitals.

The road was reopened around 6:30 a.m., Loth said. The city of Newark is working on fixing the retaining wall.

Investigation of the incident is ongoing.
