Ammonia Leak In Newark Caused By Construction Error

No injuries were reported as a result of Monday's leak.

NEWARK, CA — An ammonia pipe was accidentally cut during a construction project in Newark on Monday, the Alameda County Fire Department reports. There were no injuries reported as a result of the leak.

It happened shortly after 2 p.m. Firefighters who responded to the call learned that everyone had evacuated from the area, and everyone was accounted for.

Hazmat 12 responded from San Leandro and secured the leak. The residual gas was allowed to dissipate.
