The state WARN notice confirms the cuts but offers no explanation, leaving affected employees and the community uncertain about which roles will disappear or how services may change.
• Thieves Stole 'Nvidia' Trailers. They Got 20 Tons of Sand (wired.com subscription) — Police in Newark helped PlusAI recover two stolen trailers that thieves apparently targeted for their Nvidia branding, only to find each packed with 20,000 pounds of sand. The trailers, used for self‑driving truck testing, were taken from near the company's warehouse and later abandoned nearby. No arrests have been made as Fremont police continue investigating the unusual theft.
• Lucid's Manufacturing Engineering Head Leaves After Nearly 11 Years (eletric-vehicles.com) — A longtime Lucid Motors manufacturing engineering leader who once headed operations in Newark has left the company after nearly 11 years to join AI infrastructure firm IREN. His departure comes as Lucid delays its next EV model and restructures under new leadership. The move underscores ongoing shifts in the Bay Area's advanced manufacturing and EV talent landscape.
