Assemblyman Hosts Hearing on Clean Energy

A hearing on Thursday about clean-energy job growth and energy innovations will be hosted by a committee co-chaired by Assemblyman Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont).

Wieckowski, who represents the Tri-Cities, co-chairs the Assembly Select Committee on California’s Clean Energy Economy with Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley).

On Thursday, the committee will consider how the state’s policies on energy efficiency can create jobs, according to a press release. The hearing will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Room 127 of the State Capitol.

“California’s growing clean energy industry has tremendous potential to reduce our energy costs, decrase our dependence on foreign oil and create job opportunities for Californians,” Wieckowski said in the press release.

Wieckowski visited the Tri-Cities on June 30 on related business — to launch the “Made in California Jobs Initiative” program.

The plan is to revitalize California’s economy through targeted incentives, streamlining government and investing in emerging technologies such as clean energy, biotech and medical research.
