Betty Gentry's Last Class

After 48 years of teaching ballet and tap, dance instructor Betty Gentry is retiring.

For three generations, Betty Gentry has been known as the woman who teaches ballet and tap to aspiring local dancers.

The San Francisco native came to teach in Newark in 1963 after having run her own studio in the city for 15 years.

This past week marked her 48th—and final—Dance Revue. Gentry has decided to retire, according to Karen Moraida, senior recreation supervisor, who has overseen Gentry's classes for the past 11 years.
