Boys Soccer: Newark Advances to NCS Finals

The Cougars dominated Clayton Valley 4-0 in the NCS semifinals.

The boys soccer team advanced to the North Coast Section Division I finals with a 4-0 win against Clayton Valley at home Wednesday.

The Cougars got goals from Noe Ruiz and Alfreda Navarro in the first seven minutes to take control early. Edward Ramirez made it 3-0 in the 21st minute and Navarro scored again in the second half to put the exclamation point on the win.

Logan Lombana made six saves for the Cougars (23-3).

Second-seeded Newark will play eighth-seeded De La Salle on Saturday at Dublin High at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans beat Livermore 1-0 in the other semifinal match.
