I’m straight exhausted!

The morning was exciting, we were taking pictures, having a good time, we were SO juiced!... but then it was all up hill......

Athen joined us with about 15 miles left to the peak.  Ha…. It was pretty quiet for awhile. We were going 5-6 miles per hour, slow, uphill.  We were so exhausted we couldn’t even talk to each other.  We’d stop for small breaks, but they wouldn’t last longer than five minutes.

We met this guy, Jean Paul, who was on the same route as us.  He's trekking until Tempe, AZ, but from there, he’s going north to Canada. Talking with him, it was inspiring.  He’s completed many cross country trips, and to see him bike, even though he was going slow, he kept a steady pace.  To know it takes that steady pace to complete something so huge, it feels like we’re doing it right, like we can finish this too.

Right now we’re parked in a parking lot, BBQing for dinner.  We’re beat, but mentally, everybody is still here!

Tomorrow will be our big descent, about 3,000-4,000 feet, and hopefully make it to El Centro. The first part of the trip will be a lot of ups and downs, and then it’ll be all downhill from there!
