Designing A Home Library - Why It's Not All About Living Rooms, Bedrooms And Dining Areas

Setting up a private library can serve many functions in your home. First, you get to have personal sanctuary from the pressures of daily living. Just imagine being in the confines of your library and you can already focus on anything.

It also helps to have little tables for those cups of coffee and tea. Have gigantic chairs right by these tables because they are perfect during those cold, wintry nights. Stretch out in those stuffed chairs and enjoy the sight of a beautiful, blazing fire right opposite where you’re seated. Nothing can be more warm and comfortable than this.

There are built-in bookcases nowadays which you can customize. To be unique, do not go for the books-on-books-on-books style. Be sure to separate according to genre or even color. Use knick-knacks or vases to break up the usually monotonous look of lined up bookcases.

A stylish way to do this is to have a globe sit nearby a shelf that is filled with travel books. If you happen to have a collection of books about Paris then have a little ceramic or metal Eiffel Tower sit on one of the shelves.

You can also use a couple of two of antique desks depending on the room size. It is exciting to have a roll top desk restored and given its old, executive touch. Place an area rug to complete the setup. There are so many ways in designing a home library, just make sure that you love every little detail that is added in that private room of your home.
