Guess What Happens To Dumb Drivers In Newark
One Newark Police officer was in the right place at the right time Saturday night.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Police officers do a diligent job of catching criminals. It helps when the perpetrators are apparently clueless.
Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, a Newark offier saw a vehicle stopped on the railroad crossing on Sycamore Street. The officer honked his horn to get the vehicle to move.
According to the police log, the driver "decided it would be a good idea to spin the tires creating a cloud of smoke and then take off at a high rate of speed."

The 27-year-old San Jose man was stopped by the officer and given a ticket for reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Just last week, officers towed another car.

At around 10:30 p.m. on June 4, a driver was spinning donuts on Crestmont Drive when he hit a parked vehicle. The driver took off on foot. The driver got away but the car was towed from the scene.
