Heads Up: DUI Checkpoint Planned in Nearby Fremont

Officers will also be checking motorists for proper licensing. [BREAKING]

FREMONT, CA – The Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, Feb. 24, from 7 p.m. overnight until 3 a.m. Saturday.

Officers will be checking drivers for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and proper licensing, and motorists should be delayed only momentarily, police said. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.

The department reminds residents that drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Fremont Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
