The California Highway Patrol has announced that it will hold a sobriety and driver license checkpoint Friday night in Alameda County from 9:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

The exact location has not been revealed, but the bullseye is aimed somewhere in the San Leandro/Hayward area.

According to the Castro Valley Office of the CHP, “The checkpoint will be clearly marked and placed on a roadway with an established DUI problem or concern. A key objective of the checkpoint is to reduce the number of drinking drivers on the road, rather than produce a dramatic increase of arrests.”

Funding for the program was provided from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
