Do You Recognize This Package Thief?

Newark Police released the photo, but she could live elsewhere in the Bay Area. Meanwhile, Fremont Police arrest "serial" package thief.

NEWARK, CA — Do you recognize the woman pictured above and shown in the video below?

According to Newark Police, the video shows the woman casually walking up to a home and stealing a package off the doorstep.

While this happened in Newark, the woman could live elsewhere in the Bay Area.

On Thursday, Fremont Police announced the arrest of what they call a serial package thief.

They report that the woman had stolen packages in both Fremont and Hayward.

Fremont Police released a mug shot taken of 36-year-old Danielle Gonsalves, of Hayward, following her arrest. They report that she has a long criminal history that includes identity theft, theft, fraud and drug related offenses.

According to Fremont Police, "Mail theft continues to be a wide-spread problem for Bay Area residents. In general, people who engage in mail theft are looking for money, credit cards and other items of financial benefit. It also leads to identity theft, which can cause long-reaching problems for victims."
