Local Teens Star in Stage 1's 'FAME, The Musical'

Local theater debuts showings of FAME, The Musical. The show continues this week.

Stage 1’s newest theater production, FAME, The Musical, opened to a full house on Friday, August 5 at . 

Directed by Jim Burris, the musical created excitement among the 43 teen actors, crew, orchestra  and production staff on opening weekend.

Fame, The Musical is the stage version based on the Academy Award-winning 1980 film FAME, which features the world of a performing arts high school where issues such as prejudice, self-worth, sexuality, substance abuse and perseverance are explored. Those issues are interwoven with humor, wit and sensitivity.

The local cast shows extreme vocal talent and creative and lively choreography by Jennifer Gorgulho. 

FAME, The Musical continues this week with showings on Aug. 11, 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. at the Stage 1 theater at Newark Memorial High School.

Tickets  may be purchased at the door: $15 for adults and $10 for students.
