NEWARK, CA — Newark Police have released photos from a front porch package theft.

While a license plate is clearly visible, police say it "was altered."

Police are also anxious to prevent more thefts. "As a reminder, criminals will be taking advantage of the online shopping season," they report on social media. "We are advising residents to have packages delivered to a location where someone can receive it in person, such as a neighbor’s house or workplace. Residents can also ask delivery services to hold packages at a nearby store for pick-up."
