Make Plans Now: Drivers For Survivors Annual Black and White Ball

NEWARK, CA — Drivers For Survivors is a non-profit organization providing free transportation service and supportive companionship for ambulatory cancer patients, from suspicious findings through completion of treatments.

This service is provided for ambulatory cancer patients living in Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Castro Valley, Ashland and Cherryland going to all oncology-related medical appointments within a 60-mile radius of ZIP code 94538, freeing them to focus on their health and essential treatment.

Drivers For Survivors Founder Sherry Higgs, and the DFS Board are honored to invite the public to attend our annual fundraising gala: Fourth Annual Black and White Ball, on April 7, at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton. This year’s signature fundraiser commemorates our 5-year anniversary serving the community!

Since its founding in 2012, DFS had expanded its service areas to central Alameda county, has provided over 13,000 rides and served over 360 ambulatory cancer patients. The service expansion in July 2017 has been made possible by the funding of Alameda County Transportation Commission, through Measure B and Measure BB tax dollars; Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310; and charitable individuals, organizations, and businesses within the communities we serve and beyond. DFS also receives its major support from donations and yearly fundraisers, such as its Annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast and the Spring Gala.

Newark Saxophone Quartet will add to an elegant atmosphere by providing the evening’s cocktail hour music, and celebratory anniversary performance from Julie Bannerton will mark the evening of our 5-year service milestone. Drivers For Survivors will be honoring Toni E. Fogarty, Ph.D., MPH as a major contributor towards the organization’s success.

Come join us for a festive evening of cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Your presence and support will help send a powerful message towards our mission and your contribution will help our fundraising efforts to provide a linear need and relief for cancer patients and their families.
