Man's Body Found On Shoulder Of Highway 84

There was no vehicle nearby and investigators are unsure how the man got there.

NEWARK, CA — A man's body was found on the shoulder of eastbound Highway 84 in Newark Tuesday night, between the Dumbarton Bridge and Interstate Highway 880, according to California Highway Patrol reports. The man was pronounced dead by a paramedic called to the scene to give medical assistance.

The body was on the right hand shoulder of the off-ramp to Ardenwood Boulevard on the border of Newark and Fremont, CHP Officer Manuel Leal said, but no vehicle was found nearby. Investigators are trying to figure out how the man got there. The probe is in its preliminary stages.

The man's identity and his cause of death have not been released.
